I wondered how to brighten up our rented bungalow. After looking through many other home interiors magazines, I realised that there really wasn’t anything out there specifically for renters.

Feel Like Home
I wanted to make my rented house feel like home as quickly as possible. However, I needed to do it all without losing my deposit. I also had to ensure I didn’t upset my landlord.
I faced the frustration of bland walls and woodchip wallpaper like many renters. I dealt with restrictive contracts. It was a struggle being a colour loving artist! But instead of settling for the beige (Magnolia in most cases – I mean who even invented that colour!) I embraced renter friendly creativity – slowly transforming my rooms, upcycling furniture and unlocking ways to bring my personality to the spaces.
My Journey
My own journey took a different direction. It suddenly became an idea behind About Kiki’s House. It’s a space for renters to find safe inspiration. It turned into an online magazine to fill the gaps where other Interiors magazines miss the mark for renters. There was nothing out there solely for renters. The magazines that do exist only ever do renter-friendly articles once in a blue moon. I’d have to buy hundreds or google forever to find ideas.
Every resource at Kiki’s House is created with renters in mind.

Today, Kiki’s House is more than a blog. We are creating a community of like-minded creatives. DIY lovers and renters refuse to be held back by the limitations of the lease.
